Chamber of the Sages Chamber of the Sages is a global community that is focused on discussion about the famous Nintendo video game series The Legend of Zelda. The site was first created on February 4, 2007 using InvisionFree forum software. The board itself is named after a fictional location in Ocarina of Time, one of the games in the series. Also borrowing from Zelda tradition, the administrators symbolically take on the role of a "Sage". Despite the obvious theme, the board contains designated forums for the discussion of various non-Zelda related topics as well. ~ History ~ Havenless Era The idea of a Zelda board originated on www.gamefaqs.com. GameFAQs, a widely known gaming website, contains many message boards for a wide variety of games. The Twilight Princess board, based on the newest Zelda game at the time, was an active place with many users online. One user, Felix Felicis, created a topic named "I think we should elect sages". The topic spurred many people into claiming Sage titles on a first come, first served basis. Though the prospect of rightfully voting these titles to people did not quite take flight, there was still hope for this idea. Some folks did not agree with the notion of allocating Sage titles to forum users. Many people called Felix Felicis arrogant and vain for creating the topic and claiming the title Forest Sage as his own. This heated oppositional outcry was, for the time, ignored. After a few days Felix compiled a list of the 8 Sages, the positions given to a mixture of users who had claimed them first but also to worthy GameFAQs veterans. The chosen were: Forest - Felix Felicis Fire - salty53 Water - hypershadow360 Shadow - CopShowGuy Spirit - radin1234 Light - Goldenmasamune Earth - metalsamurai Wind - Gilberto Not long after making the list, Felix posted a topic intended to serve as the central meeting place for the Sages and the venue for their developments. Most of the chosen reported for duty, but others had unfortunately become absent and did not involve themselves with the Sages' deliberations any further. The previously tolerable hostility towards the Sages had gained momentum, and the people that held contempt for the Sages openly subjected them to streams of insults and other irritations. In light of such unproductive turbulence, the Sages found an unused GameFAQs board for an old Zelda game and used it as a secret place to gather and to hide from the trolling masses. Before much was done, though, people from the Twilight Princess board discovered the hideout and began to harass the Sages in their new home. The most prominent antagonist was Mercury_Alt, becoming the leader of a regime of anti-Sage activists. In a tedious game of cat and mouse the Sages were forced to keep finding new boards, Mercury managing to reveal them every time, providing links to the public and moving in with his forces. In an act of helpful generosity towards the Sages, alexander9 appeared and directed the Sages to yet another new board. They conducted their operations there for a while before being rooted out again. The cycle of perpetually retreating into the shadows of the board only to be cast in full light soon after had now run its course, and salty53 found a new website known as Eggerland Plaza where the Sages could operate away from GameFAQs. SuperSonicPaper was an admin at the site who assisted in concealing their whereabouts. Mercury would not be daunted so easily however, and he found the Sages once more. In desperation, the lack of any alternatives leaving only one apparent choice, the 8 Sages chose one final base to house their activities. salty53 created a new site on the InvisionFree forum host where they could completely mask their identity to all non-Sages. Thus was created the Chamber of the Sages, the controlled center of organized interaction the Sages required from the beginning. The forum possessed no revealing indicators of the true functions taking place inside. It was an innocent Zelda-themed forum from the outside with more powerful motives coming to fruition within. The Sages had their sanctuary at last. Lower InvisionFree Era After a time a sub-forum was created on the Chamber called the Temple of Time, and it was open to everyone. It was made in the hopes of attracting new, curious members, but Mercury and his trolls inevitably set their sights on it. They attacked the site with a large amount of spam, cluttering the board into a state of disarray against the moderative abilities of the Sages. Without the administrative powers that only the absent salty53 possessed, the remaining Sages could do relatively little in defense of the site. However, in a crucial revelation against the opposing force, it was revealed that Mercury had deep ties to the Legion of Legato, a message board rife with hackers. salty53 eventually showed up and Mercury's entire legion was banned from the Chamber, and the board cleaned up. A complaint was received by GameFAQs' Message Board Help that saw Mercury banned from there as well. With Mercury's power gone and his following deteriorated, this was the end of the first major hazard to ever threaten the Chamber of the Sages. In the aftermath of adversity the Sages were scattered, but soon regrouped and several changes were made amongst their ranks. Goldenmasamune and hypershadow360 were both demoted for total absence in the preceding events, their positions being taken by Sparx and Marth (later changing his name to Waterfox). metalsamurai resigned, replaced by alexander9 (later changing his name to Godirt). It was revealed that Mercury was in some way utilizing radin1234's account as his eyes and ears in the circle of Sages, but the specific manner in which this was done remains unknown. As a precautionary measure radin1234 was exiled, AlphaBomber2 taking the position in his stead. Later on Sparx became inactive and was replaced by Asiaasi. At this point in the history of the Sages, the ranks consisted of: Forest - Felix Felicis Fire - salty53 Water - Shadow - CopShowGuy Spirit - Light - Earth - Wind - Gilberto Middle InvisionFree Era The passing of time saw salty53 promoting Felix to admin in order to demote himself. It was then decided that all 8 Sages would be made Admins to promote fairness and equality in the Sage circle. Much of the board was overhauled afterward; skins were changed numerous times, a logo was placed atop forum pages, and more smilies were added to those pre-existing. A short swap took place when AlphaBomber2 had a long absence and Dark Link took his spot. The position was given back to Alpha upon his return. Asiaasi was later replaced by Acolyte, and FelixFelicis changed names to Vaxis. The site gradually began to turn into a graveyard. Forums were rarely posted in, the new Xat Chatbox was hardly ever used. The Chamber was becoming a desolate wasteland. The driving force of enthusiasm and high aspirations seemed to be steering itself down different paths for different users, interest taken elsewhere, leaving the forum as a reminder of what once was with no promise of anything to be. Upper InvisionFree Era To combat the stagnating pace of the forum it was suggested that a Friday Night Chat be held every week to bring people together on a regular interval. With a routine in place to act as a constant reminder of the site in the minds of the members, the Chamber might be revived to its former glory. This idea did in fact help to slightly revive the site from its dying state, but it was in fact just the first step on a staircase of rejuvenation. With the Chatbox once more a central function of the Chamber, the Sages had a productive environment in which to devise a plan to revive the site even more. In the midst of one of these Friday Night Chats the Sages put forth the idea of a site-wide cleanup process to instill a sense of freshness and vitality into the users and increase the appeal to any newcomers. This plan quickly took flight. Inactive members were removed from the board altogether, bringing the total tally from about 40 members down to 15. The board statistics were reset as well, as an additive to the feeling of new beginnings for the Chamber. In a couple hours of work the site had a new Zelda-themed skin. The board was hauled out of the mire of inactivity and ready to begin anew. With Vaxis returning from an indefinite hiatus from the Chamber, an advertising venture began with hopes of reeling in a wave of new, eager, active members. Vaxis had been taking his leave at a site known as BrawlBoards, a then flourishing community filled with many members anticipating and speculating on the upcoming game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This was the ideal setting in which to advertise the Chamber of the Sages. Vaxis posted a topic on BrawlBoards directing its members to the Chamber, recommending that they register. Some interested members navigated over to the Chamber and registered, and this boosted the activity of the Chamber nearly tenfold. The Chamber hadn't seen such heavy activity since March of 2007 (the month following the initial creation of the site). Certain rank changes were again implemented amongst the Sages. Waterfox was given the role of Root Admin for his immense contribution in the Chamber redesign; now the site officially operated under his command. Vaxis was voluntarily demoted back to a normal Sage. Gilberto had mysteriously disappeared for a large amount of time and so AlphaNinja, by then a long time member of the Chamber, was selected to take his place as the Wind Sage. Previously mentioned changes taken into account as well, the Sages were: Forest - Fire - salty53 Water - Waterfox Shadow - CopShowGuy Spirit - AlphaBomber2 Light - Earth - Godirt Wind - What goes up must come down, and this was proven true of the Chamber's activity. In early November of 2007 the site began to slow down. To reverse this newly emerging downward trend the idea of Sage Apprentices was brought up to renew people's interest. The role of an apprentice was to serve as a stand-in for a particular Sage when he or she was going to be away for an indefinite period of time, or, in the event that a Sage resigned, the Apprentice would inherit their position and legitimately join the Sage Circle. This idea sparked interest in some people's minds with the prospect of any member having a means of becoming a Sage, and a few members applied for Apprenticeship. With this system in place the Sages would have an easier time choosing a new Sage should the need ever arise, avoiding disputes that could lead to a former Sage having no agreed upon successor. This idea proved its own merit in January of 2008 when Vaxis resigned as the Forest Sage due to wavering enthusiasm in the site, or personal matters. Instead of conducting lengthy deliberations and considerations to select a new Forest Sage, all that had to be done was the promotion of the Forest Sage Apprentice, SuperQ. The months went by and again the site began to slow, but the severity was mild compared to the summer months. Another skin change was implemented as well as a fresh, new banner. On April Fool's Day a prank was played by Waterfox, in which he renamed the site the "Chamber of CD-i" (in reference to a video game system that has been subject to immense ridicule and internet humor) and reversed the usernames of all members for the day. The Chamber had reached reached a modest but steady pace, easy to maintain while offering hope for eventual improvement. Edited by Waterfox, Feb 7 2011, 08:07 PM.

ZetaBoards New Age The idea of converting the site to the newest iteration of the InvisionFree forum host, ZetaBoards, was presented. The members agreed, but due to Salty being the creator of the original Chamber and him once again gone missing, the Chamber could not be converted. Without any other option in sight, Waterfox invoked his authority, with the support of Sages and other members, and created a brand new site on the ZetaBoards software. In a process of three weeks length the new site was complete. It featured an entirely new skin and banner to go along with the updated host software. The site opened up officially in June of 2008 during a Friday Night Chat. Within a week of its release mostly all members from the InvisionFree site, including the Sages, safely completed their journey to the ZetaBoards site. The old forum was closed down permanently, though maintained as relic of historical significance. The first Chamber of the Sages reached a total of 13,487 posts and 44 members (deleted members not included). Very soon the matter of Salty's whereabouts gained importance as he was still missing without a trace. The Sages were hesitant to replace his Fire Sage position; after so much time the notion of losing one of the very first Sages was a sensitive issue. To say goodbye to Salty would be to give up a crucial component of the history of the Sages. Months went by before any action took place; the possibility of Salty's return was worth hoping for. Ultimately impatience got the best of hope and the Sages were left with no choice but to replace Salty. Founder_of_Meowism (later named FireNeko), an active member with origins from BrawlBoards, was selected as the new Fire Sage. The circle was complete once again, its state as follows: Forest - Fire - Water - Waterfox Shadow - CopShowGuy Spirit - AlphaBomber2 Light - Acolyte Earth - Godirt Wind - AlphaNinja ZB Progressive Era It wasn't long before a crippling blow was inflicted on the Sage structure; Waterfox, SuperQ, and Godirt went missing from the site, along with many members. The Chamber fell into another slump, with only the Saturday Night Chat (changed from Friday, for scheduling convenience) offered any substantial interaction among users during the depression. The Chamber slowly crept towards a standstill with no motivation to prevent it from happening. Waterfox returned to the forum after a time, with a new computer. His old computer had broken, preventing him from accessing the forum until he got a new one. SuperQ returned just in time for the New Year. New members also started joining at a much faster rate. The return of two missing Sages and an influx of newcomers boosted morale. Waterfox eventually purchased a ".com" domain name for the site, lending a degree of professional appeal to the site. Later on a new skin choice called Evergreen was installed, giving users multiple themes to choose from. Godirt still hadn't been heard from. January and February of 2009 passed with average activity overall. People came and went regularly, without any problems or progress. One memorable event, however, was the "Week of Silence", during which not a single post was made and logins were at an all time minimum. This happened at the beginning of February and appeared to be an isolated incident with no long term effect; merely a curious one-time trend. March of 2009 was met with a huge hike in activity, Brawlboards the obvious cause. BrawlBoards can take pride in being a successful forum for quite some time, but after the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl it succumbed to the waning interest of its members. Most of the loyal members migrated exclusively to the Chamber, the two communities already intricately connected. For the second and last time, BrawlBoards indirectly renewed people's interest in the Chamber of the Sages. In the process of this revitalization a new record was set for the most users present in the Chatbox at one time. At the end of the month, with still no word from Godirt, the position of Earth Sage was taken from him and given instead to Stixx, the Earth Sage Apprentice of the obsolete InvisionFree board. A feeling of completion was emergent from these progressive conditions, though the advancements did not stop there. The forum was just beginning its launch into the world of forum activity. Mafia Games, the Chatbox, the new Daily Poll feature and the numerous and ongoing topics in the Social forum kept the Chamber fresh and alive. During the evening, one could see 4-12 members online at once and no shortage of guests. The positive atmosphere of the site was unprecedented. Towards the end of April 2009, SuperQ felt he didn't fit in with the site anymore and chose to resign his position as Forest Sage. Without the Apprentice program to streamline the process, it took a couple weeks before Lotus (at the time, BlackLotus) was elected as the new Forest Sage. She is credited as being the first female to enter the Sage Circle in the history of the community. This powerhouse of activity and attention continued for an impressive period of time, with May, June, and July passing by without anything to threaten the upward trend. Member count slowly but consistently rose (Author's note: I was among the newcomers that emerged during that summer. I had been a member for a few months without any considerable activity, but only then did I become motivated to remain active). By August the forum reached 12,000 posts, nearly double that of April. In August of 2009, the idea of a new skin and logo was brought forth. This skin change would be more serious, and the new skin would be completely original. The Sages, lacking the technical capability required to make a professional skin from scratch, sought out SL92, a fairly active member and known skinner, for help. After two weeks of work and previews the skin was finished. The site rejoiced at the new skin and everyone enjoyed our fresh, original look. NOTE: As of this edition of the history of the Sages, SL92's skin, known as CotS Azure, is still the site's default skin. Forest - Fire - FireNeko Water - Waterfox Shadow - CopShowGuy Spirit - AlphaBomber2 Light - Acolyte Earth - Wind - AlphaNinja ZB Turbulence Era Only a week after implementing the new skin, tragedy struck the site. After a heated and sensitive dispute in the Chatbox, Lotus announced her departure from the Chamber. Apologies were earnestly supplied but Lotus was not persuaded against her decision to leave. Aphrodite, her close sister, continued to stick around the site in hopes of her continued activity persuading Lotus to return. Aphrodite wished for her sister to finish the site-related related project she had been working on before she left. Thankfully, three weeks after her departure, Lotus returned to the site and continued to work on her unidentified project. The site had a small burst of activity at this news, and the Sages were happy they did not have to replace her. The Forest Sage would remain. Activity began to wane again as the Chamber entered October of 2009. FireNeko left the site briefly and returned only to give notice that he was taking a break from the site, not telling how long he would be gone for, nor if he intended to come back at all. Many active users were not happy with his scarcely worded explanation and for a while held a degree of contempt towards FireNeko. The site crept into a mild slump, though not to the same extent as previous depressions. Lotus provided the needed boost in enthusiasm to reverse the trend with her completed project, "The End, The Beginning", a Norse based roleplay with superb artwork made by Lotus herself. Many members on the site rushed to make characters, and the site quickly began to regain its momentum thanks to Lotus' effort. Halloween began to inch closer and the Sages were unsure if their Fire Sage was planning to return, so they announced a potential election of a new Fire Sage. FireNeko abruptly returned and told the community that he was planning to make an official comeback on Halloween. In fact, Neko mentioned, he still had the Chamber as the homepage on his web browser. It was clear then that the suspicions of a losing a Fire Sage were incorrect, and FireNeko did not need to replaced. On Halloween, no more than two days later, AlphaWindja casually left the Chatbox, in a normal manner, but then posted his rather abrupt departure of the site without explanation. His activity had been decreasing since August, but his decision to leave seemed to come out of nowhere. A spectrum of wild speculation was thrown about regarding the nature of his leaving, and a controversial goodbye topic was made for him the next day. What was certain was that AlphaWindja's departure was a huge and untimely surprise after the community narrowly avoided the loss of a Sage twice already. The Sages had no choice but to choose a new Wind Sage. The typical election process was performed, however on the night before the decisive vote would be made Aphrodite brought forth a suggestion that the number of Sages be reduced. She pointed out that the remaining Sages would be required to step up their involvement in site management in order to compensate for the deficit in the staff. The idea was heeded and debates were held in the Chatbox to consider the matter in detail. In the end the Sages agreed to reduce the Sage count from 8 to 6. The Wind and Earth positions would be discontinued, chosen due to the insignificance and absence of Wind and Earth medallions in Zelda games. A problem could have resulted from the nullification of the Earth Sage position which was still held by Stixx, but FireNeko generously gave up his position as Fire Sage to allow Stixx to take his place and remain a member of the Circle. Changes to the Sage Circle were in historical abundance, but this was the first time the number of Sages had ever been altered. Following the changes, the Sages consisted of: Forest - Lotus Fire - Water - Waterfox Shadow - CopShowGuy Spirit - AlphaBomber2 Light - Acolyte In December of 2009, SL92 made a Christmas-themed version of the original CotS Azure skin for the holiday season. Rather than blue, the dominant color was red, and for a short time featured animated snow. The site also had a domain name change, switching to a ".net" name as a cheaper and faster alternative. A rotating ad banner was strategically placed below the forum banner as a lure for new members, presenting and linking to many token site features. Near Christmas time the site saw the release of the Revised Award System. The changes included a more organized system of attaining awards and the addition of new awards to earn. The awards would be placed in member's signatures until a better placement strategy could be devised. This marked the end of 2009 and the most successful year at the Chamber of the Sages to date. January and February 2010 continued on at a stable pace; People registered, members posted. Ad Removal was purchased for the site thanks to a generous 25 dollar donation by Sedium Darxide (later named Darxidium). The RP was still going strong, although not with the same ferocious energy seen closer to its debut. The Chamber reached the milestone of 20,000 posts in mid-January, and the milestone of 100 members near the end of February. March of 2010 played host to the site's 5th Mafia game. This one, instead of being hosted by Waterfox like past games, would be under the direction of Vaxis. The game was the longest one yet, lasting five days and nights. The Mafia, for the first time in Chamber history, were dealt a stern defeat at the hands of Townspeople. March also saw tweaks and improvements to the Award System, with awards appearing in member profiles rather than needing to be manually edited into the person's forum signature. Difficulties were encountered during the update and the Award System was eventually discontinued altogether. Awards are still present in certain member's profiles. The site's resident roleplay, The End The Beginning, had slowed down by the late Spring months of 2010. Little to no plot development was taking place and people began to grow impatient and restless. As a result, users starting to rescind their participation in the RP, a second threatening force against the RP's success. Lotus had no choice but to retire The End The Beginning, but teased the forum with a preview of a new RP which would be released only weeks later. This new roleplay, entitled "Memoirs of Atlantis", optimized the RPG mechanics from TETB to allow for a broader range of acceptable actions and even allowed the player to take control of a ruling nation. Despite these beneficial changes, after the first week interest in the RP dropped once again and even Lotus began to lose interest in the RP herself. Lotus had also begun to take a stronger interest in a different website, an affiliate to the Chamber known then as Exile Revolution (with many subsequent derivative sites based around the same community of people, collectively referred to in this text as Exile Revolution, for brevity). Lotus' scarce presence at the Chamber made some devoted members very unhappy with her, at times bringing them to the point of hostile confrontation. Through a myriad of dramatic conversations over the Summer months, Lotus ultimately relinquished her Forest Sage title, closed Memoirs of Atlantis and her art galleries, and left the Chamber for Exile Revolution. The Sages shortly thereafter requested to Vaxis, the former Forest Sage, that he take back his position. Vaxis agreed and the Sage Circle was quickly patched up. ZB Recovery Era The Chamber drastically quieted down, perhaps due to the perceived uneventful atmosphere that follows after a tense, dramatic event. Posting slowed down to nearly 2/3 of the output it was before. This sluggish pace continued well into winter. During November/December of 2010, Stixx created a Minecraft Multiplayer server. The user would spawn on top of the "Chamber", the original building in the server, and would be able to explore the town surrounding it, which included many user houses, a mine, armory, and a gigantic bank. OoT replicas of temples were also in progress, although some were not fully completed or have yet to be completed. In January of 2011, the first Chamber of the Sages Video Game Character contest was held, with 32 member-nominated characters facing each other in a 1 vs. 1 Daily Poll. CopShowGuy also started an activity on the social forum called "Help Link Out!", an interactive adventure comic featuring Link from the Zelda series. The progression of the plot is dependent on the feedback and suggestions of the readers, resulting in a comedic mixture of wacky, amusing encounters in the story. On February 4th, 2011, the Chamber celebrated it's 4th birthday. An edited version of the forum's banner was produced to acknowledge this hefty milestone for a limited time. This celebration of endurance also saw the sudden return of former Wind Sage AlphaWindja, with less explanation for his return than his original departure. He created a new account with the name Ninjα, as his earlier account was removed during a site cleanup months earlier. The current list of Sages as of February 7th 2011: Forest - Vaxis Fire - Stixx Water - Waterfox Shadow - CopShowGuy Spirit - AlphaBomber2 Light - Acolyte ~ Members ~ The board as of Nov. 8, 2009 only contains 6 Sage elements of the Zelda Franchise. Forest, Fire, Water, Spirit, Shadow and Light are all Staff positions. Earth and Wind originally was a part of this circle, but were removed for reorganization. The board had too many Staff members with 8, so the count was lowered to 6. In the event that a position opens up, an experienced member is chosen to keep the Sage circle complete. That user is given a moderator position. If a Senior (Admin) Sage left the site, the oldest and most experienced Moderator Sage would fill in the spot as Admin, while the newly elected member would be a Mod. If a Junior (Mod) Sage left this site, the member would simply replace that Sage. The current setup for Staff power on CotS is 4-2 (4 Admin, 2 Mod) Each Sage has several attributes that display their rank among other members. First, their username shows in a color respective to their element. Second, the PIP Image shows an image of their medallion and rank, along with their screenname. Back on the original site, Sages first used their signature to display their titles, in the colour of their element and using smilies and other related emotions as well to decorate the signature. They could also change their title below their avatar to their respective Sage position (Sage of ____) Members at the start of the site (That weren't Sages) were tough to come by. At the Invisionfree site, nobody had the desire to advertise, and the site was very unorganized, with no rules set in place and the site having a poor design. The Brawlboarders first arrival in Oct. 2007 brought about a dozen members, but only about 4 stayed active. Their second coming in March 2009 on the Zetaboard was more set, and we gained some extra members that didn't come the first time. Along with that, members from other sites and affiliates such as Amity Brawl, Valiant Gaming and Hylian Shield also joined the site. Drifter members (Members that were not attached to an affiliate site), while still rare to find, became more common with the release of the Zetaboard forum. We currently sit at approx 22 active members. 6 of these members are Sages. ~ Forums and Forum Accessories ~ The Chamber of Sages was originally made of two categories. The Sacred Realm, which was the original forum, and Hyrule, which contained the newer social boards. A tertiary category, "Termina" held Clock Town (Media Forum) and the Member forums for a brief time before it became merged with the Hyrule category. At first, the only forum was the invisible Chamber of Sages, which only the 8 admins could see, let alone post in. Whether or not this board still exists is a question only the 8 Sages can answer. The Temple of Time was the first social board, and was immediately flooded with spam upon creation. It was cleaned out, and later made into a forum for Zelda discussion only. Announcements was made to keep all important notices in, and the Castle Market was a social board for anything else. The Cave of Ordeals was made for CYOA's, RPGs, and other games because the other boards were filled with ninja fights and car chases. The Imprisoning War was made specifically for RPG's and interactive wars. The Hyrule Archives were made to contain fan fiction, artwork, and other creations. It also documents past articles for research. Over the months and years forum ideas were scrapped and added. The Imprisoning War was merged in with the Cave of Ordeals, and then the Cave of Ordeals was scrapped completely. Hyrule Archives was scrapped during the move from Invisionfree to Zetaboards. Brawl HQ was a forum that was specifically for Brawl. But when Brawl began to die out, it was merged as a subforum in with the Karkariko Village (General Gaming Forum), then eventually scrapped. Chamber of the Apprentices was a secret forum back when the apprentice idea was fresh. However, in never gained any posts and since apprentices were a dead idea by the time the Zetaboard forum made the scene, it was removed. Clock Town is a forum dealing with media topics such as music, movies and current world events. Legendary Topics, a very useless forum for putting topics that reached a large number of posts or other important things related to the Chamber, was not even considered in adding to the new Zetaboard forum. Sages Shop was a new and dominant idea throughout 2008. To make use of the original money system on Invisionfree, Sages and Members could purchase things such as forums, signatures and temporary power from the site. However, it was never much a success. Even though the money system and the shop were carried to the new Zetaboards forum, problems with the money system, lack of interest and poor organization ended up having it scrapped near the end of the year. Member Forums were also included with the release of the Zetaboard site. Member Forums could be run by members and used for a variety of purposes so long as no site rules were broken in the process. Originally, you had to purchase a Member forum from the Sages Shop, but once the shop was discontinued all members needed to do was to contact an Administrator to obtain their own forum. However, with the amount of Social Board Clones and dead forums made by members who chose not to stay, the requirements to obtain a member forum became much more strict. Member forums were renamed "Personal Realms" in 2010. At the start of the Zetaboard site, a reputation system was added as well. But, like the money system, it was never used. Eventually it conflicted with the Money system and glitched up the site, causing both the money code and reputation code to be immediately removed. Sages Daily Polls was added in March 2009 at popular request. It is one of the Chamber's more successful forums, currently at over 600+ polls over the last year. In January-February 2011 the first Video Game Character contest was held as the Daily Poll. At the start of 2009 an "Awards" profile was added. Members could earn poorly made Photoshop badges for their contributions to the forums. A revised award system was launched in December 2009, with newer awards made by Lotus and the earned awards being placed in a member's profile. These awards eventually became discontinued shortly afterward due to difficulty updating them and a lack of interest as a whole. Some awards can still be seen in some member's profiles. A "Forum Purge" in the Summer of 2010 deleted around 45 inactive member accounts and removed old member forums and placed them into the archive. ~ Our Heritage ~ Some may be surprised that the Sages at the start were chosen almost randomly. But the manner in which they were chosen is not important, as long as they grew to fill the roles given to them. That was what I thought when I selected you all. I knew that what you did as a Sage was more important than how you got there. Much of the past few months was dominated by my resolve to make sure we all came through together. I made it top priority to maintain our secrecy and purpose, and now I watch as we grow and develop. Now we are carefree, happy in our own little world. We don't have any reason to run anymore. But once we were a scattered group of wandering Zelda fans, running from the enemies we made for ourselves. And you all must remember that. Know what we did, how we got here, and do what you can to keep this place safe. ~Vaxis --- Thanks to Vaxis for starting the idea of Our Heritage. Thanks to Darxidium (Sed) for correcting and improving the original document (Feb 7th, 2011) Edited by Waterfox, Feb 8 2011, 12:49 AM.

Man, I wrote that too long ago. I sound like a president or something in the last part. The way I talked in that part, you'd think we had just gone through a World War. Edited by Vaxis, Mar 23 2009, 08:45 PM.

Which I still think is ridiculous, especially after the fuss I made when Gilberto did return for a time.
I could swear this was my idea and everybody thought it was a bad one at the time...Which it was. 8 admins would be overkill even in a large forum, let alone one like this... Oh well, it doesn't matter too much. |

Bit disappointed that I wasn't mentioned once, seeing as how I'm clearly the best thing about this site, and the world in general, but I'll let it slide. It's a good read. |

I had a few pages planned out for you, but it was deemed too valuable for the general public, and has since been made a confidential document under the guard of my two cats. They run things around here. |

Don't fret, Balore. I also had a writeup worthy of the ancient epics for you, but alas, some ruffian got a hold of it and decided it would be hilarious to change a bunch of names around to make YOU into the damsel in distress after the Cat fought through an army of evil weed whackers to rescue you. And also, the ending was far too risque to actually publish. I mean, that final scene between you and the Cat was quite graphic, but I do recall several dismembered limbs and much friction between you and your league of extraordinary eunuchs. |

Oh, and BlackLotus should be mentioned in there now... Also, our original intent for even starting this was "to promote order and smite ignorance" in the GameFAQs Twilight Princess boards...that seems to be worth mentioning as well. |

Nice memory, Waterfox, I couldn't have written it better. I also remember that Mercury Alt, I always saw him as a Ganondorf, haha |
