Chamber of the Sages Terms Of Use Welcome to the Chamber of the Sages! While we want you to enjoy your time on the site, some rules need to be followed to insure you don't ruin your experience for yourself and others. The Sages (The Moderators and Administrators) will try to remove any and all inappropriate messages when they find them, but remember that they are humans after all (or so we think) and may miss some things; however, if you were to run across any of them first, please report the topic to a moderator and/or contact our Staff via the PM system. If you were to find an user breaking the rules, contact a Staff member and we will try to get the issue under control. The main issues of interest are as follow: Illegal Material You are not allowed to post, upload, link to and/or e-mail content such as the following: -Any racist, obscene, sexual, threatening, or defamatory material. -Any software viruses, trojan horses, or any other computer code, files, or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment. - Spam or pyramid schemes - Illegal drugs - Terrorism - Pornography, nudity, or sexual material of any kind -Excessive profanity (bypassing the filters is not allowed) -Impersonation of any person and/or invasion of privacy -Anything that promotes disharmony in the boards (you are not allowed to start flame wars and such) Swearing These boards are meant for members 13 years or older, however this does not mean that you can swear at your heart’s content. Try to keep the swearing at a minimum (after all, you don’t really need to swear in order to post something). We believe in Freedom of Speech, however remember that there are other members that my feel offended by certain words, remember that this is a community and we need to keep peace amongst ourselves. Flaming/Bashing Do not bash/flame other people on the board. You can debate someone else's opinion, however flaming or bashing a person with derogatory comments is prohibited. Continuing to do so after a warning will most likely get you suspended or banned. If you have any problems, report it and/or contact a Staff Member. Sage Titles Any decision concerning the promotion of members on this board lies on us the Sages. Any request for Sage positions will be ignored. We will not add "an extra sage" spot either. I feel that with 6 Sages we have more than enough mod power than needed, especially for the current size of this forum. If there are currently 6 Sages, then you will have no chance of becoming one. Don't ask. In the event that a Sage resigns or goes inactive, the most helpful, polite and active members will be considered. Once again, do not request or beg for the positions when a time like this occurs; You will be less likely to be chosen or not even considered at all. There are two types of Sages, Senior and Junior. Senior Sages are long time Sages of the board who are helpful and have not given up their powers. They have access to the Admin CP and are Orange on the chatbox. Junior Sages are the newer Sages who have basic Moderator abilities. They are silver on the chatbox. When a Senior Sage is demoted, the oldest Junior Sage will take his/her spot, and a new person will be elected to fill in for the original Junior Sage. Authority Simply put, the Sages have the last word. We hold absolute authority and we expect you to respect us. If you have any problems with another Sage, do not try to settle it by yourself, simply seek help from another Sage via PM. Advertising You may not advertise your own forums and/or recruit our members anywhere on our boards without the permission from a Senior Sage. (aside from adding links in your profile and/or signature). Requesting affiliation is fine given you are polite and friendly. If you wish to request affiliation, PM a Senior Sage. Advertising and/or recruiting through Personal Messages is highly prohibited and is not allowed to be done AT ALL. We reserve the right to punish anyone caught doing this without warning. If somebody does this to you, please report it to a Sage privately. Spam Bots and/or Spam Advertising is forbidden and any members caught doing this will be banned instantly. Referral Links are OK, but they cannot be harmful and you must not direct attention to them in any way. You can use your signature to advertise other sites, though. -Do not type in all capital letters. This is not only useless, but it is rather annoying as well. -Spam can be posted in the Castle Market forum, however, please do not turn serious discussion topics into spam, as you will be punished. -We encourage posting, however, try to avoid one word or very simple posts. Religion and Race Religious/Racial topics always seem to turn into wars. Bashing of particular religions and/or race in topics, signatures and/or profiles will not be tolerated and you could be banned. If a Sage feels offended by a post or message, they have all the right to delete it and punish you. Right or Wrong? We ask you to use some common sense while posting on our forums. What may seem OK to you might not be to others. If you feel that your post could offend or disrupt the forums in any way, do not post the message. However, if you are disrupting the chat or breaking any of the more serious rules above, you can get kicked from the chat, and potentially banned. Each Sage has the ability to kick and ban members on the chatbox. If a Sage is not there when somebody is breaking rules, please contact a Sage privately about the matter. We are not responsible for any message posted on our boards and/or Chat Box. Anyone who feels that a message is not appropriate is encouraged to contact us immediately. We will make every effort to remove objectionable material within an appropriate time frame. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this board. We will enforce rules as we see fit. We also have the right to alter the rules as we see fit in any situation. We reserve the right to modify these terms as often as needed and without notice.
